question about adding a smartphone to a sprint family plan?

so right now my mom pays for her phone and my crappy phone on a sprint plan, and now i want to upgrade my crap phone to the LG optimus S, so my question is how much will the plan cost monthly now? i've heard it's like $10 a month for additional phones but i'm not sure if that's true for smart phones...thanks
