Hello! quick question for anyone knowledgeable in law enforcement or gun laws. I am 18 years old and i recently got a job as a security guard while i'm going to college. It's not a career for me or anything.. just something to pay the bills while i go to school. Well I work a long night shift and i do not have a partner or any weapon or form of defense. My duties are to go around a metal management yard at night and just look for suspicious activity. Well, my first week on the job i found just that. Some man was rummaging around the yard taking copper wire. He didn't see me and i was able to contact the police. When they showed up this guy did NOT want to go down with out a fight. Apparently he was all strung out on meth and gave the officers a pretty bad fight.
Well this was enough to freak me out to consider getting a weapon for my protection. My company policy says fire arms are not allowed on duty.. However i'd rather be fired from the job then dead because some meth addict was hiding and decided to attack me with a pipe. the 9.50 an hour is worth the risk to me.
Would i be facing any legal issues if i were to carry a fire arm and my employer did not know about it? Obviously i know i could be fired. But like i said before.. rather be unemployed then in a hospital or worse.
Any advice or information would be great! Thanks!
