Question about 2001 Ford Ranger?

my ford ranger started squeaking from under the hood... it would not accelerate properly and was skipping and jumper really bad.. like it was about to go dead and was loosing power.. all of a sudden it stopped and started running fine.. what could that be.. i never seen such
 
You start by fixing what you know is wrong. Open the hood and find out where the squeaking is coming from. If something siezed up and is keeping the belt from turning you're going to overheat the engine.
