ina election,where the current president is eligible to run again for his second term.what are those called.also,does he automaticlaly win the nomination?is therea primary?was there a republican primary in 2004?
has anybody ever notice the elctions are on leap years.
 
Yes, we have all noticed that Presidential elections occur in leap years.

No, there was no Republican who challenged Bush in 2004, just like no Democrat challenged Bill Clinton in 1996. On the other hand, there was a very, very prominent Democrat who challenged Jimmy Carter in 1980 (have you heard of Ted Kennedy?) and in 1976 Ronald Reagan challenged incumbent President Gerald Ford. Incumbent Presidents who run for re-election are not automatically guaranteed to be nominated for another term.
