I haven't heard it but if it's anything like Lullabies it's not going to pull my strings, and I hear it's even more laid back than Lullabies so I'm even less interested. Still, I bet it's a wonderfully produced album, but I'm more of a S/T and SFTD fan.
We definitely shouldn't be down on Bass Players... they've copped it too long as far as rock band mythology is concerned... Bass players, WE LOVE YOU!!! Without you guys our favorite rock songs would sound tinny and lacking in depth and breadth... you are, along with the drummer, the backbone around which song structure sticks and you can make some pretty interesting structures yourself
I`m probably going against the grain here but I fail to see whats so special about Kyuss. I think QOTSA were far superior.
With Kyuss I always had this sense of the band saying to themselves 'Right then laRAB , which Black Sabbath album should we plagiarise today?'
whereas QOTSA to me sound like they made more effort to actually write songs that sound original.
I don't see it happening. Kyuss always recorded everything live (with minimal production wanking) and I can't see them getting back together anytime soon. It would probably be against their ethos anyways.
I would give an arm and a leg to see Kyuss reunite, but Homme just doesn't want to do it.
Chimming in on Era Vulgaris thinking that Adidasss gave it a good review in the white stripes thread (I was wrong, he just mentions it) and so far only 3's and 7's is good with the song preceding it apparently first appearing on teh desert sessions, though its good as well.
Show in Chicago is confirmed. I just signed up for their Email list, so hopefully a tour ensues. I'm so excited, it's like songs for the deaf + JPJ! How can you go wrong?
