Thanks man! And it was even better than I expected. Best gig in ages maybe ever that I've seen. Great musicians and great songs. Big fat grooves, great riRAB and fills, tempo changes, nice bridges, killer hooks it was all there. And these guys were rocking and having so much fun.

Dave Grohl is just an amazing drummer. Very relaxed and powerful. Great sound, very tight, sometimes swinging, sometimes grooving, then some great chops and rolling fills. My head was spinning from all of this. Together with John Paul Jones and Alain Johannes this is a killer rythm section. And Josh Homme was the charismatic frontman. Very relaxed, cracking jokes, doing a silly dance and playing the guitar in his familiar way.

They played a highly energetic set for 80 minutes with some songs lasting over 10 minutes.

This was worth the 2,5 hours in line without a doubt. If you get a chance to see them go for it! Very curious about the album but I'm pretty sure it will be a classic.

I don't know how it's possible not to hear the bass in Nirvana songs, most of them have an isolated bassline at some point. And Novoselic's bass is very loud and muddy sounding, you can't miss it.
 
TCV has their own thread, that's way I started it. So people wouldn't be clogging up the QOTSA thread with posts that aren't even about the same band. Please post all further Vultures post there. Also, if a mod wants to be really cool, they could merge the last few post with the TCV thread it would be great.

Name a band. In most banRAB the bass player has a huge influence on the sound. Bass tones vary so much, as do playing styles. I can say for certain that if you were to change bass players of any band I listen to frequently, I would be able to tell almost instantly. Then again, I focus alot on bass playing.
 
I'm not saying QOTSA suck, Rated-R and Songs For The Deaf are pretty good solid albums. But when i got into QOTSA back when SFTD came out, one of my older frienRAB recommended Kyuss - Blues For The Red Sun to me and it blew my head off, and i was very thankful for that.

i also wanted to say something else about them, even though i really like some songs by them, and songs for the deaf is a good album, i don't think it's perfect ( like some critics say ) , i didn't like some 5 songs off it, and lullabies to paralyse sorta decreased in the quality, i love their sound but after 4 albums they still haven't made a truly awsome album that would solidify their position as the gratest rock band in the world...so i'm starting to think they lack a bit on the talent and songwriting department.....was songs for the deaf better because all those different artists were on it thus making it great? does that mean that josh by himself isn't capable of writing an amazing 5 star album? because it's starting to feel that way to me.....
 
I saw these guys with NIN last year and boy was it boring. All of the riRAB sound alike. jajajajajajajaja!!! I can't seem to understand why they are so popular.
 
Era Vulgaris comes out sometime in June. You can hear some songs on their official web site. Sick sick sick is pretty sick...

You have some moral objections to downloading?
 
this may sound like a durab question but are there 2 singers on songs for the deaf? someone other the josh? because it seems that way to me....

oh and best songs on songs for the deaf for me are:you think i ain't ..., no one knows, first it giveth, the sky is fallin', go with the flow,do it again,another love song...i'm a bit belated with the whole QOTSA obsession, i kinda liked them but really started to love them after hearing them live....simply amazing sorta dirty guitar sound...mphhh...and his voice is so perfect.....not to mention that he has an amazing stage presence...ultra cool....

If you took the bass players out of all my favorite banRAB you'd screw up a good deal of the music... REM without Mike Mills would be just... not right, The Church without Steve Kilbey on Bass.... just plain wrong...

An lookhow much REM struggle after Bill Berry left if you don't think drummers make a difference... The Pumpkins without Jimmy Charaberlin sounded kinda misguied, lacking rhythmic flair.... Adore could have been amazing with him on the kit.

Sometimes when you take a musicianout thattruly defines part of the character of the soun, you really mess with the music.

You couldn't possibly be more wrong or clueless about bass players.
