Quantum Of Solace Running Time

According to alot of reviews the film looks like its been seriously edited and is disjointed.
That would explain the short running time.

Probably to secure a 12A rating.

Most of the reviews I have read are mixed, at best. I just think they are taking the whole 'back to basics' thing too far and forgetting that Bond is supposed to be fun. Daniel Craig simply lacks the charm of his predecessors.

Agree 100%.
Bond is supposed to be a mans man,the man everyman would like to be.
I dont have that feeling with Craig's Bond,he is too cold, uncouth and rough.

After the AMAZING Casino Royale, I am really worried about being disapointed with this sequel! I suppose the shorter running time is good in a way for some, but for me personally I am quite disappointed, even with CR's long run I still wanted more when it came to the end, and was gutted it was ending so soon. That film I could have easily sat another two hours watching!

The review I read said it was a lot shorter than Casino Royale but felt a lot longer, has there actually been a good review yet?

The problem with Die Another Day was the script not the direction. And the guys who wrote that did well enough on Casino Royale (but obviously with the help of the excellent Paul Haggis)

Sean Connery managed it, as did Timothy Dalton.

And with regarRAB to Bond being fun, I don't mean in a comical sense like the Moore Bond films (they were slightly OTT). But I found Casino Royale utterly charmless and indistinguishable from any other generic action flick. Bond films always have a certain 'spark' that separates them from the rest which is also apparently lacking in QOS (although I will reserve judgement until after viewing). And Craig just doesn't fit the bill... he looks like a nightclub bouncer, not James Bond.

If the negative reviews are to be believed, I'm hoping QOS underperforms at the box office. Maybe then the producers realise their mistake of following the 'Bourne' action movie trend and make a more traditional Bond 23.

It's currently at 82% on Rottentomatoes. That's a bit beind Casino Royale (which I adored and hit a stellar 94%), but still very good. Empire, Times, Guardian and BBC were all very positive about it. I'm hopeful.

I've seen Licence to Kill. It's proper bo. But there's no charisma greater in that film than Craig's in Casino Royale.

I look at it like this:

Dalton is a secret agent - not Bond.

Craig is more Bond-like, but in the body of someone you can imagine would work for the secret service (a heavy).

Oh, and saying QoS is really confusing. My football brain automatically kicks in, and I think about Queen of the South. :D

I guess part of the loss comes from rebooting the franchise. Not that I agree with you. I loved CR because it felt like an old fashioned Bond movie after the drivel in the Brosnan movies.

Absolutely agree with you. I watched CR for the first time last week, and was so engrossed in it, was gutted when it ended!

Really looking forward to QoS and I thought Daniel Craig was superb as Bond.

Craig is too blunt as Bond. Craig can't do gentlemanly sophistication or gentlemanly charm. These traits soften Bond and make him more appealing. Bond is a bit of a ruthless bastard but it's important to see his other side. Without a bit of charm or gentlemanly sophistication Bond becomes another generic action hero like Bourne. I like the Bourne films but Bond is not meant to have the bluntness of Bourne.

Not enough Bond fans or moviegoers care that Craig is essentially miscast as James Bond. People will go and see Quantum of Solace and make it a hit. I love Bond films, grew up with them but Craig leaves me cold. I don't see any future for the Bond franchise. I'm sure there will be future films but I don't believe the next Bond actor will be any better than Craig. With the success of Craig there's no reason to go back to the original version of James Bond. The original film Bond - charming, refined, hanRABome, a hero you would love to be like - is most definitely dead. Craig's Bond killed it off!
