(CNN) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 struck Canada on Friday, the government said.
The location is about 13 miles from Shawville, Quebec, near the Ontario border.
Authorities say the quake is unlikely to cause significant damage. An aftershock was recorded as well.
"We had a lot of shaking, that's for sure," said Kim Bulmer, town clerk of nearly Renfrew, Ohio. "But I just checked with the public works director and there does not seem to be any reports of damage so far."
