QI Series H Taping Thread

Has all of series G been broadcast already? I have the impression it got part way through then they started with repeats, or am I wrong?
 
Just saw in the listings that Series H begins this week with "Hodge Podge" at 8:30pm on BBC1 on Friday with an XL edition at 8:45pm on BBC2 on Saturday.
 
Those lists of guests look tantalising! I must admit I've got completely lost with this current (or latest) G series. Partly because it's been broadcast all over the place, with no real regularity to it. I hope the H series gets better treatment, with a standard episode on Fridays followed by the XL on Saturdays. I don't have the "series link" technology so I've probably missed some of the G programmes due to poor scheduling.

I hope Stephen reduces the amount of "schoolmaster lecturing" in the shows, because he did rather dominate the G series. The guests should be allowed more opportunity to answer the questions with incorrect guesses before Fry interrupts with the answer on his card. Compare the G series to the earlier ones and you'll see that as time has gone by, Fry has become more dominant, more quick to get to his little lectures, and they get through far, far fewer questions as a result.

Jonny Vegas is a mixed blessing. He has been very funny in some episodes, but rather annoying in others (and sometimes both at once). I don't think it suits Reg Hunter's comedic style, though he is great on other shows, so I'm happy to see him off the list so far.

I'd also like to see a return to post-watershed, so the panel feels less constrained in what they can say, and we might get more adult questions. Watching some of the earlier series on Dave really brings home how "adult" some of the material used to be, and I thought it was better that way.

I prefer the episodes where there is banter between the panel. Some of them really work well together. There have been many great moments, but one that sticks in my mind was the time when Julian Clary told the story about pooing himself in front of the queen. In itself not all that amusing (or even relevant to the show), but Jo Brand's reaction just cracks me up every time!
 
As Jaggs said, Hugh Laurie has already been on QI and he was rubbish. Funny how you say Harry Hill would be too scripted as that's exactly the reason why I think HL would be/was rubbish.

Although, HL was on QI about 6 years ago so - who knows - he may have improved on his non-scripted skills by now.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore him in his scripted roles, such as "A Bit of Fry and Laurie", "Blackadder", "Jeeves and Wooster", "House"...
 
I can only remember a little of last weeks episode. I watched the XL edition after a night out. I can remember Ross Noble doing ok. I wondered whether it would be a challenge for him/the show as he's very surreal.

Stephen Fry asks unanswerable questions about parts of the body beginning with the letter H, with Sue Perkins, Bill Bailey, Gyles Brandreth and Alan Davies.
 
just out of curiousity, I'm going to the taping on Wednesday 9th June and obviously tickets aren't guaranteed- doesn't anyone know what would be a good time to start queuing? I'm really looking forward to it, but I just hope we get in! thank you :)
 
I'd quite like to see Eddie Izzard on the show. Also Al Murray (NOT as landlord obviously) as he knows a lot about military history it would seem. Be good to see Rory Bremner make an appearance again.

Someone I think would be great on it is Armando Ianucci.
 
Why do they persist in bringing on Gyles Brandreth? I know it's an factual show as well as an entertainment show, but he's so boring!:(

I pray they never have him and Vegas on the same show.
 
A couple of weeks ago I went to see the recording of "Holidays" QI.
The panel was Bill Bailey, Richard Hall, Rob Brydon and Alan Davies with Stephen Fry. They all wore Hawaiian style shirts and garlanRAB.
The recording was done at the studios on the South Bank, nearest tube/rail station Waterloo.
Started queuing about 5pm, the show took 2 hours to film.
 
Bring back David Tennant! Lee Mack took over when David was on, so I'd like to see him get a proper chance.

Other than that, John Barrowman, Catherine Tate, Russell T Davies, Frankie Boyle...
 
From what I recall they started broadcasting repeats (on a different night) before the series had finished - but did run it to the end on the original night - if that makes sense?
