Putting music on LG enV Touch...?

I want to put music on my LG enV Touch. I already have a USB cord. I want to put music on it that I already downloaded for my iPod. I am not sure which format these songs are in though. Can someone tell me how to get music on my phone? If I need to change the format of the music to .mp3, how do I do this?
