Put The Pencil in your 5800 - how to do multiple selection

One of the biggest shortcoming of the 5800 is that it doesn't have the "Pencil Key" anymore - the key that allows you to do multiple selection, well here is a workaround:

1) Download the The Pencil application here-> http://jbak.ru/thepencil.php

2) Click English on the left side if you dont understand Russian, I am sure many of you don't and it is better than babel fish

3) Symbian Signed it here-> https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/page/public/openSignedOnline.do

4) Install it and Run it, you will see just a RED screen, (well, what can i say they are Russians) on y case I click on the green call button (it will be assigned as my "default pencil key"), then click save (to save of course) and then press back.

5) and now if I press green key and i scroll and i can now do multiple selection, just like the old "Pencil Key"

signing it was quite easy too... just select all the categories..

cheers all, and do give the guy a donation... :2thumbs:

Thanks for posting this. Out of curiosity why would you want the green button to be the assigned button? Wouldn't that screw it up if, for instance, you were in the music player and wanted to make a call?

Thanks for posting Fried!!! Also, the program DOES auto-start when you reboot phone! Program works just GREAT! ..... although, as a TIP.... I recommend using the RED (End) key rather than the GREEN (Send) key if you like to hit SEND after typing a text message rather than Options/Send.

Thanks!

After figuring it out (I never used a phone with the pencil key so it took me a couple tries), it works great! In some views, you can just scroll with your finger to mark things in a list, but in other things (like the music player) you seem to have to tap each thing while holding the button down (I used the red one too). Also it doesn't toggle, so you still have to unmark individually or 'all', if you mark the wrong thing.

well at 1st i could not make it work, tried the red, i even tried the volume keys, then i tried the green and it worked! anyways, any key will do, volume key is fine...

Guys, on those S60 phones that does not have the pencil button you can use the # key for multiple selection and copy/paste, without any additional application!
