Purchase of additional reciever

I have searched around on the forums and couldn't find an answer to this. I have just purchased a 9242 in addtion to a 9200 I already have. I bought it from Future Shop and I thought that what I would get is the reciever but I got the complete dish and all. So now I have 2 dishes. Is this right? I haven't opened the box yet because I want to make sure all is ok before I hook it up. The guy a FS said that this is normal and that I can sell the dish or even get credits back from Bell if I send it to them. Can anyone confirm this?

I also bought a 6120 model that came with dish. I would love to get some credit from Bell for it but I would be really surprised if this was true. I think sales rep just gave you the story. I guess we can always try and list it in Buy&Sell section here.
 
All the retail 9242's come with a dish, SW44 and 2xLNBF. You should be able to sell them yourself and get some money back. Others here have done that. Or you can keep them as spares. I've never heard of Bell buying them back though.

EV will not give you credits for that... You can keep it in case yours break, or as the salesman suggested sale it.

When I bought my 9200 I also had a box with the dish and LNBF. The second LNBF was already nstalled on my dish, so I didn't need it. I placed an add on www.kijiji.ca and whithin days the dish was sold.

I felt the same way too... I don't have a car and taught i'll be walking out of the store with just the receiver. Best Buy insisted that they can not let me leave with just the machine and I had to go back the next day with a friend who has a car...

EV when I was working there was telling me that they NEVER sell receivers with the dish for existing clients, another reason why I was even more surprised.
 
I've got 2 leftover dishes.
Anybody want them? Free for the taking.

They don't even make good flying sausers, the edge keeps digging into the snow....
 
It seems that now I may have another dilema, although it is a nice one to have. Being that I went out and bought a new reciever just before Christmas, a little birdie told me that I may be getting another one for Christmas from my mom for a family gift! How many PVR's can I have hooked up? I currently have two, the 9200 and 9242 and am wondering if I can hook a third and have them all set for one TV each rather than splitting the TV's with the dual tuner. I know it is a bit much but my wife and son have now figured out how to use the PVR and record 'EVERYTHING', but never seem to have the time to watch what they recorded.

You can have 6 tuners per account
Currently, you have 4 tuners (9200&9242 both are dual tuners)
This is the policy, even though it is incorrect in borchures (Last time I checked)
It says on flyers, that you can have 6 receivers per account, but a friend was told it is 6 "tuners"
As far as hooking them all up for one tv each, I think you are asking, if you can have the 3 HDPVR's hooked up to HDTV's, and then have the 2nd feed, from each HDPVR, going to a TV off of each HDPVR? Is that correct? If so, then yes
Another neat thing, would be to set up the PVR's feeding a 3 way splitter, backwards (1 feed from each HDPVR, and then a single output)
Note, I haven't tried this method with a 3 way splitter, but with a 2 way, and it worked flawlessly
It will involve hooking the splitter up backwards, but will allow you to combine 3 outputs, onto one cable, and then have that output going to another 3 way splitter, to feed your additional 3 tvs
This would allow you to watch ANY PVR'd event on your tv
You would have to set the TV 2 output to different channels (HDPVR#1 = CH# 73, HDPVR#2 = CH# 83, HDPVR#3 = CH# 93)

Just one slight correction, it is 6 Receivers per account, NOT Tuners.

There is a lot of confusion over this but that is in fact the limit.

For a NEW Rental customer it is set at 4 Tuners, after the initial installation, which is free that same customer can get more Rental receivers to take them to a 6 receiver Max.

So in theory, you can have 6 Dual Tuners.

I have 3 Dual Tuners and 2 singles on my account.
 
Rental and owned receivers have different rules. IIRC, Bell supports a max of 8 tuners (2xSW44s) for owned receivers. You can, of course hook more up yourself, up to 12 with six owned 92xxs. I once had 6 receivers with 8 tuners on my account, all owned. I currently have 3 receivers with 5 tuners.
 
There is NO difference at all between the final totals for Rental or ORS (Out Right Sale).

Where the confusion lies, is that a New Rental Customer can only have 4 Tuners installed for FREE, after that all are billable, including any extra switch's lines etc.

I believe i hate tv mentioned a mis-print on a brochure, this was indeed correct, as no-one at Express Vu had obviously done the Proof Reading before it went to press.

If a new customer wants 6 SD receivers, they get the first 4 installed for free, the next 2 would cost the $250. $150 for the 8 way switch plus 2 x $50 for the 2 lines.

It is very important for all new customers to place the order in the correct way to avoid as many of the additional charges as possible.

If that same customer wanted 1 HD and 5 SD receivers, then they should order 4 SD, get them installed for free and after 28 days order another SD & an HD receiver. As an existing Customer, who is Upgrading to HD, they will then get them both installed for free, along with 2 x SW44's and the required splitters.

Ordered the Express Vu way, it would be HD & 3 SD installed for free, then $125 for the next 2 lines, followed by $150 for the second SW44 and $50 for the splitters.

My way is $0, the Express Vu way is $325.

The down side to my way is a 28 day waiting period.
 
Which ever way I do it, will they still charge me installs if I do the installs myself with adding additional recievers? I originally set up all my stuff on my own a few years back.
 
Hi.My first post.I bought a HD tv and got a free HD receiver.I am a bell sub with a single receiver now.I would like to add two more receivers when they do the install making a total of 4.(1 HD and 3 SD)I have 1 other receiver that was given to me and will have to rent one.Should I activate that receiver or just rent 2?What is the least expensive way to go?Thanks.
 
With rentals, professional installation is required. That's even if the wiring is already installed. You might as well have the installer do that too.

IIRC, EV limits rentals to four per account. If required, the next two must be purchased. Has that changed?

OK, so if I have this correct, right now you have one SD receiver. Got an HD receiver with the TV. You plan on adding this and 2 more SD's. Is this correct.?

I would be looking at Renting the 2 x SD's and ask Express Vu to install then and the HD box at the same time. My understanding is that as an existing customer who is upgrading to HD you would get the entire installation for FREE.

This would include the SW44, second LNBF and Dish replacement if required.

If you were to consider buying the 2 x SD's then you would have to pay $200 for them and then $50 per line for their installation. The installation of the HD and SW44 should be FREE.

Rental is the cheapest way to go. SD's are $3 per month on a 1 year Term because you are an existing customer. After the 1 year term, you could always return them and buy a couple of receivers, this way you get the installation all done for you.
 
That really helps!I image I'll need a new dish.The one I have is the 18 in. single lnb.What type of receiver is a rental?
 
All models are available as Rental, 4100 & 3100 (SD), 5900 (SD PVR), 6100 (HD) and 9242 (HD PVR).

For the cheapest route I would go with 2 x SD, which would be a 4100 and a 3100. Rental is $3 per month each.
