I was on a doggy play date with a friend and fish was on the sand just flopping around. Her puppy took the fish and was running around, we tried getting it from her but she thought it was a game. Then she ended up eating it.

Is this ok? I mean can the puppy digest the fish ok?

I'm sure she'll be fine, dogs were meant to meant to eat meat anyway. I feed my dog raw fish quite often, although they usually aren't alive. In fact, that's all I feed my dog is raw meat and raw bones. Beef, chicken, lamb, turkey, whatever I can get my hands on.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't think it was good for her to eat it and she'll probably get sick later as well. I remember when my first dog dog ate a pigeon that she'd caught because it was injured (I came home and found feathers all over my yard and put two and two together), she threw up later that day and refused to eat or drink. I was going to take her to vet the next day, but then she started to eat and drink like normal and she got better all on her own without vet assistance. So, if your friend's dog gets sick, then don't panic right away. She probably just needs to get the fish out of her system, like humans do when they eat something bad, too, but if she doesn't get better like mine did the next day, then take her to the vet, esp. if she gets worse.

i think its okay unless the fish was huge, but then if she stops eating or poos or pees blood then go to the vet. I don't mean to scare you. :P

It should pass through the dog. You'll be amazed at what a dog can eat! Just don't let the dog make it a habit of picking things up and eating it. You'll need to train the dog to drop items on command.
