Punk kids. Greed. All that shit. (rant)

My first rant was three times as long, but the interwebs eatz it up. Too bad.

1. Punk ass skateboarding kids. What the fuck makes these little twerps think they can come into any business they want, shoplift, and harass the employees?

I had the pleasure of tearing apart 15 of these little skateboarding shitheads because they made one of my employees cry. They contribute absolutely nothing to the community and bitch about everything.

Guess what? You do not have the right to skateboard wherever you want. You don't have the right to hang out at a mall if you don't buy anything. You don't have the right to steal from businesses, or to pull pranks of people that actually work.

For the next week, if you look like this:
100_1567_thumb.jpg
I'm kicking you out immediately. No questions, no arguing. Any complaints will get you either a busted kneecap or a ride in a cop car. End. Of. Discussion.

2. Why the fuck does the store owner drive a car that costs more than most of the cars her employees own? Why do the store owners live on a lot in the most expensive track in the city, when most of their employees can hardly afford rent in 20-year-old, shitty apartments? Why am I getting bitched at because our workers aren't motivated when I, a manager, can't afford to drive my truck a quarter mile to work? What's the problem here?

Offer decent wages, get decent workers. Pay shit, and good workers will literally float in randomly. And they'll leave when they realize they are worth more than the $7.5 people get to start. $7.5 at 80 hours a payperiod hardly gets most people by around here. I'm making $9 and I can hardly make the bills. So why the fuck does the store owner's daughter wear designer clothes?

I live on the Kenai Peninsula. Google it. We have 52,000 people here. She has to drive three fucking hours to get the clothes that cost more than my bi-weekly paycheck.

If they were decent human beings they would stop offering incentives for the managers and start offering them to the crew. Kind words and encouragement don't keep the stove lit, people.

I'm getting bitched at because I actually work for my paycheck. Their logic? I wear through too many uniforms. Fuck that. I will always work at least as hard as the people I lead. I'll never ask them to do something I wouldn't do myself. Any incentives I get, I split with whoever I worked with that day.

And it pisses off my employers to no end.

3. Shitty day today. Came in to find my schedule totally fucked. Had three people after eight pm...no. Wait. Two people. One had to do dishes. When we needed 6 people, I had to work with two. Fucking two. And we get reamed every week because times could be better. Know what? Give me the fucking people!

Give me the tools I need and I'll blow your mind with what I can accomplish. Shaft me, then criticize me because I can't make up for your shortcomings, and I'll work elsewhere.

I have a construction job offer in April. I'm gonna take it. I can't agree with a corporate vision if the field consultant wears a rolex while the people he inspects can hardly afford to live.

Cheeseburgers don't mean a damn in the long run. Building an apartment that houses 15 families means more than padding the pocket of some greedy piece-of-shit dirtbag. I can't care about how many fucking big macs I sell each day and hear about him whine that he's only making ten cents profit per mac. I know full well the fountain drinks are pure profit and we sell enough of them to put an Ethiopian village into diabetic shock.

I can get a three dollar raise from this, and they finally stopped pestering me about the dollar raise I can get from going to class. I just want to shout "It's McDonald's! Nobody gives a fuck how many cheeseburgers you make!" In the end these people are still being held down. They are still being underpaid for their work, and the ladder is simply too short for some of us to make what we deserve.

If I ever have a business, and I intend to, I won't live any better than my employees. If the business prospers, then so do they, and so do I. But if business is slow, I'll take the hit before anyone I employ. Just doesn't seem right to hire 100+ people and pay them shit so you can live in extravagant comfort. I won't show off $100 bills in my wallet when people under me are taking home boxes each night to heat their homes.

It literally makes me sick seeing this.

Im going to rip the store owner an asshole so wide he can shove his yearly bankrole up to his kidney. I can't wait. I'm sick of this shit. I have a month.

Alright...

I can see your problem with punk kids. I also hate how stupid these kids can be. Useless, annoying, thieving punk brats. I don't have to deal with them on a daily basis, though, so I can only imagine how bad that would be.

As for business owners "livin' it up" while the employees are basically stuck in the dumps...well, that's a different story. Sure, I agree that the local cost of living should be taken into account when setting wages, but your whole idea of spreading the profits around more evenly is just too socialistic a view for me. The business owner invested money into setting up the place, and sure, you may not like how it's run, but they do run the place. They do deserve to get what they can out of it. Don't like that? Leave. Find another job.

But hey, if your work ethic is as good as you say, that's great! You'll do well in construction, and may even work your way up in that business if you want to. Good luck!

Your bosses' sound like thier living the 'American Dream' as only the rich can. They stay rich, flaunt it in front of the people keeping them rich, and treat them like trash all the while.
The rich will stay rich and the poor will stay poor.

Kich, while I understand wholeheartedly wanting to do the best by your employees, I do kind of have to echo bracham's sentiment. Since yours is the initial investment and yours is whose ass is on the line (such as should the absolute worst occur, the business goes belly up, and the IRS come after your business). Your investment, your assumed risk.

That being said, I don't for a second believe that you intend to split profits evenly between yourself and your crew. I kind of have to admire that you want to do the absolute best that you can for your employees. It's an often neglected tactic that really works wonders for business. Happy employees = happy customers.

EDIT: I just looked at the picture again. Who do you suppose is the dork with the scooter?

Kich, it sounds like you are one of the rare few that care about their employees or anyone you have to lead in a business. You will go much further with that attitude than most people realize. Be careful you don't get walked all over though with the few employees that are only in it for themselves, however.

I too don't like seeing people live it up unfairly when the other people around them are obviously much worse off. it just simply is obnoxiously unfair.

Good luck at the new job. I hope things work out better for you there!

I was a bit pissed last night when I wrote this. Though I have split incentives before, I have no doubt that as an owner of a business that I could split profits out evenly. That's just a pipe dream. However, I know for a fact they could be spread out a little bit better than they are right now.

If I'm worried about my business' success, you bet your ass I wouldn't spend $60,000+ on my truck when a $5,000 one will get the job done just as well!

3DRadio: The kid with the green striped shirt looks gay enough to ride a scooter...

Wow, not to get off topic but you did tell me to google the peninsula, gorgeous! Sure, it is probably cold now but it is just breathtaking!

I skate, but I'm also a Criminal Justice major so I don't do stupid things (or dress like that, it looks damn stupid). The morons that do both are the ones that ruin shit like skateboarding for everyone else. Hopefully the bastards get what's coming to them.

As far as the second half: I'm lucky enough to work at a service station where the owner is not only down to earth, he's also one of the mechanics. Don't know what I can tell you as far as that goes, but kudos on working your ass off. There are too few people like that nowadays.

I'd like to make it very clear that skateboarding and skateboarders are not automatically criminals. CL was a skateboarder in his heyday. I was very punk rock in mine. neither of us acted like that. I've seen groups of preps steal from stores and act like they own everything.

Don't make assumptions based on appearance. Doing so cuts you short.

PS: Old people walk the mall from 7 am - 9 am every day. Do they not have the right to do that? I see old people sitting on the mall bench for no reason and not buying anything. So guess what, you actually do have the right to be at the mall even if you are not buying anything.

PPS: The store owner probably worked very hard to start the store and is likely in debt that is greater than all the store employee's salaries put together.

PPPS: If you feel like McDonalds is insignificant, why the FUCK do you still WORK THERE?

while that may be the case where you live, the kids that cause problems here are skaters and 'punk rockers'.

Old people around here don't pick fights or try to sell drugs to passers-by, either. I didn't even mention the little drug problem these kids have.

He inherited it from someone else who got tired of making money. Didn't pay a dime, just stepped in and took the reins, so to speak. That makes him more of a stuckup piece of shit, in my humble opinion, since he didn't build his treefort empire by himself. He just sucked some cock to get there.

I'll give you a hint: It has something to do with this

Jobs around here are in short supply during the winter months. Until recently I haven't had any job-appropriate training. Now I have oil field training, and practical carpenter experience, so once I leave I don't have to come back to the burger barn each winter for a paycheck.

This town survives on tourism. During the winter the money wells dry up.

Here's a present for you, Sionis.

Zing! /me wonders how long it'll take Sionis to get that joke.

The problem with the bastards you're talking about is that they delve too far into the counterculture. No only have they decided how awesome it is to shun society, they've decided that it's hilarious to complicated things for everyone else too. I can't stand people like that.
