Pulled out flash drive while using, and now it doesn't work. What to do?

I have a 2GB Micro Cruzer and now when I try to plug it back into the USB nothing happens. No recognition by computer, and no flashing light in the drive. I tried it again today, and after waiting about 10 seconds, the flash drive flashed once and but after that, nothing happened. I took it out, waited 10 seconds again, but this time, the drive didn't even flash at all.
What's wrong with my flash drive? Why would trying to reformat it do anything?
 
ok, you are going to lose everything on it. right click on my computer > Manage > disk management > in the window select your usb drive and right click on the space and go to format. then it should show up in my computer again.
