Don't ask me how I did it because I can't tell you. I was watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and went to switch positions when I noticed hey my neck really hurts. I couldn't make it through Thanksgiving dinner at the table. I had to leave as soon as I was done because I couldn't keep my head up to sit at the table because of how it hurt. I couldn't sleep because the only comfortable position I could get into my on my back and I can't sleep on my back. I was supposed to decorate my house for Christmas today but that doesn't look like that's going to happen. I am also supposed to work tomorrow, but I can't even turn my head to look at the clock without having pain.

I have tried ice, heat, slight stretching, massage, ibuprofen and nothing has helped. I have to keep my head looking at the ground, my arm in the air, or my chest sticking out to move with just a slight amount of pain.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do so I can live my life or do I just need to spend my weekend at home not moving?

Thanks
KD

You could try Robaxacet or whatever has methocarbamol in it.
I see a chiropractor when that happens to me.

When you sleep on your side, make sure your pillow is high enough to support your head (not leaning down, not crooked up), hug a pillow and put one between your legs.

Hope you get relief...I truly feel for you.

Keep us posted how you're feeling.

Try rubbing it with Bengay, and taking two ibupfofen and two Percogesic together (do this for 2-3 days only) See a physial therapist.

Percogesic is avaliable at most drug stores, it is a corabination of tylenol and an antihistamine that has pain relieving and muscle relaxant properties.

Thank you both.

The pain seems to have subsided a little. Now I am more stiff than anything else I guess. It is like at the bump where I guess your spine starts. I used to be able to move my head down to my chest with no pain, but now when I do it I have pain. I still have a sharp pain in the right side of my neck when I move it side to side, but it isn't as bad as yesturday.

I am wondering if the stiffness and the new painful spot comes from how I have been sitting. I actually decorated my house for Christmas, with the help of a heating pad, and had discomfort, but I was able to do it. I am in more pain now from how I was siting on the couch than after I finished that. I have been sitting with one or more arms behind my head because in that position I can move my neck with the least amount of pain. I wonder if the sitting is not helping. Well I have this weekend to move around, but if this isn't solved by Monday I will have a problem since my weekday job involves me sitting in chairs used mostly by elementary school students.

Anyone have any advice of this?

Thanks
KD
