Okay: public service announcement to Republicans AND Democrats:
Federal politicians are RICH. Much richer than most of their constituents. Every election, Republicans and Democrats alike point to a valuable haircut, or yachting or windsurfing hobby, or wealthy family, or some other obvious product of their opponents' candidate being rich.
Mitt Romney is rich. George W Bush is rich. So is Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain and the poorest member of US Congress - every one of these people could, in all likelihood, purchase everything their average constituent owns with the money in their checking account.
It's not some scandal when a candidate is "caught" being rich. I'm not asking us to stop slinging mud, or finding scandals, or getting wrapped up in frivolous or hypocritical criticisms of candidates; I'm only hoping that someone, somewhere, will not be outraged and delighted to discover that an opposing candidate who is running for President of the United States is secretly not impoverished.
