Public Employee Unions Are Our Friends!

There's no work for them to do because they cannot be reassigned. Only career position that can be reassigned is PTF. And "reassigned" doesn't mean that a PTF carrier can go do distribution or something.

Because for starters, the post office and the fire service are two completely different animals.

What is this...I don't even...seriously...what are you getting at here? That each one provides a service of some kind? Well you got me there...I guess?

You've lost me. I can't even formulate something to say to you because I literally have no idea what you're saying or what point you're trying to make.

The fire service doesn't pay/waste people to go to work and be on standby for an entire day or whatever the concern is with the post office and do nothing.

It seems to me that there is work for them to do throughout the week. Although the system is broken where there are excess perioRAB of time when there isn't. But like I said, they wouldn't need to be reassigned to fill in for someone who does the job they are assigned to when that person calls in sick. (A mail sorter being called off of standby/not being put onto standby when another mail sorter calls in sick, for example)

I mean, I don't think there are any employees who are on permanent standby status because their position is no longer used at all, is there? (For example, someone whose position is feeding the ponies for the pony express being on standby all day every day because there are no ponies to feed)

It's just like how hospitals, arabulance services, and fire stations will have people working 12- and 24-hour shifts so they can be good to go as needed. Gotta have paid employees in the office on standby just in case there's lots of mail or some other post office EMERGENCY!!!!

Some guy twiddling his thurabs because his union has his employer by the balls is basically the same thing as emergency service personnel waiting for an emergency.

You know its interesting looking at jobs where the unions have gotten away with murder then looking at mine where the pay is fucked up across the board and to say the least...Florida is a weak union state. Wheres the happy medium?

USPS is not "obligated" to deliver mail to anyone, and certainly not free of charge. Your Post Master can cut you off. The only "obligation" USPS has is to not throw away any mail and extend it as far out to the destination as they feel like taking it.

Back in the day, you'd pay a third-party delivery service to pick up your mail from the Post Office and bring it to you. No doubt the carriers' union has since put an end to that in areas where rural fees are still charged.

"discriminate against rural customers"

Spoken like a true moron who thinks that everything should be equal, regardless of costs involved.

Choose to live in West Burabfuck away from everyone, yet whine about how the conveniences of living in society aren't provided for the same cost.

Typical Communist wannabe.

The post office is one of the congress' constitutionally authorized duties. That is if you consider section 8 to be duties as opposed to authorities. Though i believe there ought to always be a post office, that no region of the U.S no matter how remote should be without postal service, It has become another piece of evidence for the case of governmental inefficiency.
