hi everyone hope all is well with you all!! I am 5 months post op and the dr wants me to start pt on monday. can anyone help me to know what to expect with this. i am still having back and sciatica pain and am worried that this will make it worse but hoping that it will improve it. I do know that he wants to strenghthen my right leg because it is getting weak i think because i baby it in a sense because of the pain. just wondering what they have you do in theraphy?? thanks julie

forgive me but I cant remeraber what surgery you had. Was it a fusion or microd?

either way.. I think you may be thrilled with PT. I started PT 10+ weeks post fusion at l4/l5 and this was the turning point for me on healing, pain reduction and return of flexibility again. Make sure your PT is actually a REHAB therapist that is really really versed with spines. They are not all alike.

I am about to dump my current one and return to my rehab therapist. This one Im seeing now is "typical". They know standard stuff and can not think outside the box at all and this one works very little on you. Not my cup of tea.

I got spoiled with my rehab PT and this is new one is not working. I have tried to give this new one a fair shake, but Im hurting and she isnt helpin much nor offering me solutions to help.

So be picky and get the best of the best.

Oh, expect to be sore and maybe even a little pain. Take your pain meRAB about 1/2 hour before you start PT. It will help you through it, and also expect to even get flared up through the recovery process. This is all very normal, but make sure you communicate well and tell your PT every little sneeze and wheeze pain you get from this or that. That way the PT is finely tailored to you and not "cookie cutter" therapy.

i had 2 roRAB with screws a fusion l4-5 s1 and also a disc. and lam. and he put a spacer in there and an internal bone stimulator. i thought it would me me sore at first but hoping to have good results in the end! good idea i will take a pain pill then. thanks for the input julie
