on the ps3 , how can you change your online screen name (the one people see while playing)
 
No, sorry you can't. You can make a new account though, for free, just the only downside to that is you lose all your ranks and you have to re-add all your friends from your old account.
 
Once you have created one then you can't change it, unless you have a Japaneese account. But it's kinda' complicated. But there are many tutorials on how to do that.
 
you cant change your online psn id
once youve made one you cant change it.
if you dont like it i reccomend maybe making a new account.thats what i did a while back.

you can't. you have to create a new one using a different email address. then on your PS3, create a new user account for this new PSN ID.

Ther isnt a way to change your online id, you can create a new dcreen name but you will lose anything u have achived on your current name, but any downloaded contemt will work with your new name, sry bud
