ps3 upconvert?

If you want a game system that upconverts your DVDs like a champ, get the 360. The scaler in it is fucking awesome. My DVDs look fucking great upconverted to 1080p through my 360.

PS3 doesn't upconvert at all. It has no scaler.
 
How are both hooked up?

I haven't bothered using it to play DVD's only Blu-Ray discs. After seeing what a garbage job the PS2 did vs. a decent stand alone DVD player I wasn't expecting great things from the Ps3 as a BD player but have been very pleased.

Providing I have time later today I'll do a comparison w/ pics:

a.) Ps3 vs Sony upconverting DVD player vs x-360, media: DVD
b.) Ps3 vs Sony upconverting DVD player, media: Blu-Ray

I'll use transporter 2, as I own it on DVD and blu-ray

TV is Sony a2000 series SXRD
ps3 & Sony DVD, both over HDMI, 360 over component
 
DVD upconverting would be done in software not with a scaler, just like on a PC.

the PS3 does scale unprotected video like high def tailers and such, they are adding scaling for DVDs eventually.
 
Sweet that would be a good thing to do.

By the way my ps3 was hocked up in s-video when i first saw this and the dvd was component. And the ps3 looked better.
 
what kind of tv?

sucky thing about all this "testing" is all of the variables, not to mention personal prefrence. So what person "A" likes, person "B" may find is garbage.
