PS3 Latest News: Sixaxis wins an Emmy and Midway classic games.

but their original controller design looked nothing like the dual shock 2. they also did not include the sixaxis until just 2 months before release, quite awhile after the wii remote was unveiled. it's not something they did just to keep it secret either, game developers said it was thrown at them at the last minute and were told to find a way to use it before launch. was printed in electronic gaming monthly.

and not to debate which console is better, but damn, if an award is going to go out for the most innovative controller, it should certainly go to nintendo. it's one of the main selling points of the wii, even if you consider it an inferior console, you have to admit it's more advance than a dualshock 2 without rumble but with a tilt they slapped on before launch.

and i mean hell, you have to plug it in to sync it with a ps3 (i realize you don't have to do that every time, but still), what's the deal with that? the 360 wireless controller came out over a year ago and you never once need to connect it with a wired connection. how is that innovative?

they won it for introducing ... DVD of all things in 1999

The PS3 won several awards in E3 as well as this years CES so I don't see where the hate is coming from ... unless, do you own a 360?

"The Sixaxis controller has been honoured with an award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences - the Technology and Engineering Emmy Award."

I wonder how much they paid for that

no, but it was never officially in development until after the wii controller was unveiled, and then came out 2 months before release. look it up, the developers for launch titles were bitching about sony forcing them change their games to utilize it

btw, who really cares about these awards. its not ilke they make the console any funner or better for you. just stupid fanboy bragging rights.

You're not technologically inclined to appricate the system. The only innovative leap (i.e. new) in the Xbox can possibly be attributed to the GPU. Everything else is the usual flare. With the wii it's the controller and how it interacts with the games (very fun indeed).

With the PS3 ... there's a long list beginning with the Bluray (yes people hate the propritory bs [although it's not the main reason sony chose this format], but don't seem to be flaming HD-DVD or even the DVD format that Sony helped ... yes i repeat helped launch), cell processor (considering it can be likened to the processors used in SGI systems is saying a whole lot), and backwards compatibility 13 years into the past generations + ability to play other video games from other systems (atari, nintendo (yes mario on a sony), turbographix16, etc.) it might be alittle easier to see the innovation if you didn't put your blinders on whenever people hear the name Sony.

I guess Microsoft went through a simular phase when they were considered a monopolizing company. The good thing is that with these added leaps in technology and the giant community of opensource/free software development, it's going to be fun to see where we're going in the not too distant future.
