Has anyone done this yet? I'm hoping I don't screw it up. I've only tried linux once. I don't even remember which version it was

30 minutes left on the install.

Does anyone know how to boot back into the XMB? I had to set default to "Other OS" to install it. I remember reading something about holding the power button for 3 seconds when turning it on or off but I forget.

First thing i'm gonna do is download a SNES emulator and see if I can use the PS3 controller with it!

post results with the emulators and shit. excuse me not exaclty being smart when it comes to computers, but what is the point of installing linux on your ps3? besides playing roms (if it works).

Well, you can use it as if it were a computer. Also, this is a great opportinuty for homebrew/development/piracy.

I'm posting from the PS3 right now! I don't know shit about linux though, gonna try to get some help in the main forum with emulators.

saw on engadget that theyve already used linux to dump isos of the games. soon enough, you can just download the games off the internet and then boot them up

Nothing special, was gonna dump some games but I couldn't figure it out at the time

I wanted to run some emulators but also couldn't figure that out.

I don't know anything about linux It's nice though.

so are you using it for anything? running emulators isn't the same as running them in windows? thinking about installing it as well, just don't have a use right now. i would like to read up on dumping games and running emulators. or wait till you figure it out

Haven't used it since I installed it. I think the directory that you need to install apps to is restricted, but i'm not sure about that. Like I siad, I don't really know anything about Linux

I browsed OT that night, used AIM and messed around but that was it. If you'd like some computer capabilities where your PS3 is, it could be worth it.

Just don't be like me and remember to back up your saves before you format to install it!
