Hey people if someone could help me i would really like that my problem is that my urine has protein and i just would like to ask why???? I am not diabedic and i am healthy but i play soccer for maybe 1h-7h total per week and maybe can this affect the protein and does this mean that if i do have something wrong with my kidneys i will never again be able to play sports and i have took the urine test where i pee in a cup and bring it to a lab and it came posetive is this because i play sports alot and like to run, rollerskate, play sports and stuff like that i am really nervous.......someone please help!!!

when you were at the docs office? did they actually do any lab work on your kidneys? unfortuently finding protien in a persons urine generally is one of the very first indicators of a possible underlying kidney disease. it can also come from someone who was very strenuously working out right before that UA was done too? but this just IS something that DOES need further evaluation just to know for certain what may be going on with your kidneys right now.

there just are many different types of possible kidney diseases out there that you can actually inherit from whatever just is there on your moms or dads sides of the family. i did not have a clue i had kidney disease til our yougest son actually became deathly ill at only age 12. in his particular case, thei gene that created this at all,in him it mutated and created a really insane liver disease that he almost died from. it was not til we were told that he actually had to have gotten this(its called polycystic kidney disease) from either me or hubby that we had the ultrasounds just to see which one of us actually had this crap. i was like already 40 years old(in 1999) when i found out i had had this all my life but since all my kidney labs were and still are amazingly within all the norms, who knew?

the crazy thing in all of this was that while i was a ff/emt, we had to have a basic yearly type of specific checkup that was not really overseen by a doc, but a company that came in to do this? well they DID do the standard urine dip and i was actually told like 8-9 years before my son got sick that my UA actually had shown protien in it. the thing is, i did not have the slightest clue as to what that really ment so i never actually followed up on it. i should have now looking back, but that earliest indicator WAS there back then(this was around 1992?), just did not understand the significance of it. i do now of course.

this is just how crazy certain kidney diseases can be. but i would VERY highly recommend that you just DO get your kidney labs checked out AND just to really 'see' into what those kidneys actually look like too(this just gives a much clearer picture than ONLY labs can)get an ultrasound done as well. your primary can do all of this for you. but you just really DO NEED to know why there is actual protien in your urine. unfortuently this really is the only way to really know for certain as to whether or not your really excessive workouts with sports could have done this or if there just really IS some type of a kidney problem. with most kidney diseases you can still remain pretty darn active. it all would depend mostly on just what any real problems are within the kidneys, ya know what i mean? but DO see your primary doc about this, the sooner the better. they would just do a repeat UA and draw some blood and kind of go from there.

hopefully this is just the strenuous workouts and not a real kidney issue. but either way you really do need to know. i am hoping things are all okay with you. please let me know what you find out, K? FB

yeah well see I was also born in Belarus a town called Pinsk and maybe like 200miles from there was the Charnobyl blast sorry i do not spell very good i am only 12 years old but if you know what i am talking about it was a plant or something like that where they built radioactive stuff and it exploded well
i youst to live there now i am in the usa but the first signs of exposure to the blast are kidneys and some neck problem my mom has that neck problem and i found out 1 week ago i have the protein in my urine :( so i just really am in love with sports and if something goes wrong and i can't ever play them again i will be very sad, because see I want to be a pro soccer player and i have so far practiced all my life tp train my skills in the game so i really dont want to have that taken away from me and i just really like sports a lot =)
yeah i know i already got some blood taken from me and i just really hope everything is ok i hope

Roman.

Good news! Protein in your urine does not mean that your soccer playing will soon be over, even if it is kidney disease. I would advise you not to get overly upset about this, until you have all the answers. If it does turn out to be kidney disease, there are many very good medications available to protect your kidneys, and kidney disease is a very slow moving thing. Most people do not feel any symptoms at all.

I am one of those people. I have had chronic kidney disease for about 25 years, and I am just now slowing down. Up until a few months ago, I was still camping and riding my motorcycle off-road, swimming, riding my bicycle, etc...and I am a 49 year old woman!

My advice to you is to follow your doctors advise to the "T", eat good, and keep all your fun activities going strong. Keep a good positive attitude, and enjoy your life. Write back anytime, we are all here to support you!

Question, does foamy urine always mean there's protein in it, or could something else cause the foamy urine? This is not a once-off for me, I've had it for a while, so I'm just curious.
