Pros and cons of a turbo in a car?

btw i want an is300 turbo
 
if your going for aftermarket turbo dont over do it as most cars cant handle the excessive power and neither can the transmission. most of the time you need to upgrade the engine parts (rods, valves, etc), get a larger exhaust, stronger clutch and flywheel, sometimes larger injectors and stronger fuel pump. if you look for say like 30-100 more hp get a fairly small turbo and the engine should be ok on stock components.

most of the time turbo jobs are done cheap and wrong and cost more over time due to failing parts.

so pros:
easy power
lots of power
cool noises lol
little engines can make big power without using as much gas as larger ones

cons:
expensive
require knowledge for installation
can reduce factory engine reliability
consume a little more gas
might void factory warranty
 
A turbo will improve your MPG while it is not in effect, and when it is in effect, it will reduce your MPG. It will make you go faster. Yep that's about it.
 
Pros

- More power without increasing the displacement (a small and light engine can produce a lot of power with a turbocharger attached)
- Huge power gains possible
- Ok it can sound good (come on admit it!)

Cons

- Difficult and expensive to set up properly
- Expensive when it goes wrong (not just the turbocharger)
- Turbo lag on bigger turbos
- Much higher fuel consumption than NA engines (who cares tho, really?)
 
All the pros will out weigh the cons as soon as you are behind the wheel.

pro>makes most petrol cars pocket rockets.
pro>makes all diesels drivable.

con>turbo'd cars are generally more unreliable.
con>less mpg.
 
Pro: your car can gain horsepower and fuel efficiency with the addition of a turbo.

Con: your engine will suffer damage quicker and you'll need to change your oil more often.
