Here's from a kraut. Who were they really trying to kid, by denying the truth of it. I cannot imagine anybody making up the horror stories of the things that happened, it was horrible, and as inhumane as you can get.

Pros (?): The Germans got a lot of free labour out of it, freeing up men for the front. Even Oscar Shindler had kids polishing artillery shells.

All the "undesirables" were taken out of society, fear that you too might disappear into the camps kept people in line and working hard.

No unionists, agitators, Communists or "peaceniks" to slow things down, give a different opinion or disrupt the war machine in any way.

For the germans, it allowed them to weed out the "undesirables" to perpetuate the master Race

The con is that it still required a lot of effort from them to make this all work
