Pros and Cons for Secondary Education Major?

I think you're asking two different questions, so I'll answer them separately.

Pros & cons for a secondary education major - does this mean you're trying to double major in education and something else? This may not be necessary to become a teacher depending on what state you want to teach in. Pros - get a feeling for the field before applying to a credential program after getting your bachelors. Cons - you have to take more classes before you can graduate since you'll have two degrees.

Pros & cons for becoming a teacher - this really differs from person to person. You could see something as a pro whereas someone else sees the exact same thing as a con. I've gone back and forth so many times myself trying to decide if I want to be a teacher.

Pros - schedule (especially if you want to have kids and keep a similar schedule to theirs), working with children
Cons - strict structure of teaching institution (from school, principal, state), individual challenges that come with each student

Pros - Work hours, job security, retirement plans as well as health benefits, summers off (unless college professor), not to mention passing on the "flaming candle of knowledge..." lol

Cons - not paid the amount you should be, "those" kids (you know who I'm talkin' about)

*These are the pros/cons in my opinion, may not apply to you... hope this helps... As long as you are having fun, after all you only have one chance to live...
