Some pros:
It's interesting (if you get into a field that is a good "fit" for you)
You make a reasonable amount of money (most lawyers aren't rich, but very few are poor)
You can help people with their problems
Sometimes you can actually change the law
Some cons:
Three years of law school after college (and possibly some pretty big student loans)
You can see people at their absolute worst every day (again, depending on the area of the law)
Long hours of work, having to take work home
Dealing with judges who are often quirky or unreasonable
Having to hear people trash lawyers all the time
Overall, I love my job, but when I can retire in a few years, I'm probably done with practicing law. Maybe I'll write movies or something.
