Prophets said god talked to them?

my Question is how do we know if the people who wrote about God and Heaven, didn't go crazy and think up those thoughts saying god sent them a message... I do believe there is something amazing that created everything and everyone we live together with.. any thoughts? feel free to post and please don't criticize its an honest question and i will not judge any answers
