The state says I have some unclaimed property in my name listed at an old address where I lived briefly, a long time ago. How can I proof I lived somewhere for about six months in 1971? I don't have any documents or anything. Who keeps pay stubs, etc. from 40 years ago... They know its me apparently by verification of SSN#, but they say I still need to "prove" that it is me by supplying some sort of corroboration, utility bill or something with name with that address. They also say that examples of unacceptable documentation are: hand written letters, letterhead and business cards, printouts from the Internet and telephone directories. So I don't know what further I can do. I offered to swear an affidavit, but they say I'll still need something "contemporary" from 1971 before they'll give me my money. Any thoughts?
