Promotion question for NCO's in the Army?

Is it true that if you go to the board and get recommended for promotion and you DO NOT have enough points than you can add points later and do a memo and get promoted once you meet the points or is that bs?
Thanks, I went to the board this morning. the CSM told me I did really well but I'm still worried about points..
