I am not familiar w/ the c90 specifically, but the majority if not all metric cruisers still use the same old fork design, so removing the fork cap will allow you to pull the spring out. Some forks have a spring retainer in there as well.
Remember to thread it out slowly, if there is a preload on the springs. Same goes to putting it back on, thread slowly to avoid cross threading. It's very easy to do w/ spring pressure pushing up against it. Depending on the rate of your spring, you may have to fabricate another spacer of a different length.
