Progressive shocks and fork cartridges

Has anyone been using the 940-4020ut shocks and the fork cartridges 31-2500 with spings on the 09-11 touring bikes yet? Feedback from people who own these are welcome.

Yep got em both. The monotubes I have are standard length, I did not install the optional c clips or spacers as I have a 21 wheel on the front. This lowered me from stock about 1/2 to 3/4". If you install the clips it will ride as stock height. They also make a 1-2" drop kit. They made a big difference in ride quality here, no more bottom outs on big holes or bumps. Less front end dive on brake, a firmer sportier ride, not cadddy cushy. The 940s on the rear are still being dialed in. You need to add preload depending on your weight and that of the passenger. There is a way to set static sag but when I followed procedure, I would bottom to easily. There is 10 turns of preload available, so far I like them both. Like the fronts more since they cost less and did not have to dial them in. The rears are much better than stock although you must either find a happy medium or change preload from solo to 2 up. I am almost there on preload with passenger, fine tuning them, then onto 2 up with load........once ya find out what works, just set it to that depending on how your loaded. Only takes a couple minutes to do but you need to remove bags to get to them. Good Luck.

103Eagle, do you have any issues with the front forks when steering at low speeds or when your front end gets in a rut? Or how about a clunking sound when you compress the front forks? I have this set up with 1 clip in a 07 RG, and the front gets squirrelly if Im trying to make a u turn or idle along in first gear especially with a tour pack. Progressive says the steering is sensitive because of the smoother action of the spring compression and the clunk is the small spring dropping when you compress the forks and it comes back up??
As far as the 940's I finally had them dialed in but when the temperature got hot I had to tighten the preload again (with the same load on the bike).
Just curious if any one else is having any issues.

I'm running 940 and the 31-2501 lower monotube cartridges with out any issues, took me awhile to dial them in but once I did they are fine

I had to edit this.I copied the wrong quote.- it's ok now.

+1 ! Same here

Can I just confirm as I have a pair of these waiting to fit. That's two people saying the front end is vague at low speeds? I like the fact that my ultra is steady at low speeds and U turns and don't want to lose that.

Thanks

Progressive told me the clips do nothing to lower the front, they set the preload, the 940s are 1 inch lower than stock and the rake has chanhed thus making the steering response more sensitive. The more clips you install the firmer the ride. They told me to try taking the clips oit, that will maketheforls abit mushier and not so sensitive. The clips dont lower the bike as stated on thisforum.

Have a 2010 SEUC, put 940's on the rear and 1 inch lower Mono Tubes on the front. Vertically challenged, 30 inch. inseam. That with the new touring seat that has the narrower nose makes it very comfortable with reguards to getting my feet really planted on the ground.
The Mono Tubes on the front are a bit firmer, but not harsh. Not as soft as the stock harley forks. They are installed per Progressives instuctions using 3 c clips. No front end dive under braking. You do tend to feel more of the road, but after riding it for a while I like the way it feels. As far as the slow speed riding, mine does not feel vague too me. It handles the same as it did before. It is more steady at slower speeds especially coming to a stop. I guess because the center of gravity is lower now.
The 940's on the rear are an improvement over the stock air shocks. Like already said they do take a little time to get the preload adjusted to your liking. Their is a video on Progressives website that shows how to set them up. You can adjust them from their to your liking.
Overall the ride is a little firmer, but not too harsh. When you take 1 inch of suspension travel out of the shocks, they have to do something to keep them from bottoming out.
Its a shame that you have to spend all this money to get the thing to feel comfortable.
Oh.....I almost forgot. If you lower you bike 1 inch front and rear, then your Jiffy stand will have your bike standing too upright on the stand and you have to figure out a solution to that also. Just lowering the rear with the 940's the jiffy stand was ok. It was when I lowered the front I noticed the stand needs to be shortened or heated and bent.
