Profile Question

I have my phone in "general" profile and obviously have my separate tones for phone calls and for text messages. However, I like the tone I have for my text messages but is there any way to lower the volume of the message tone without lowering the volume of the ringer for voice calls? thanks alot

I think you would have to alter the sound file you use for your text messages to get a lower volume.

Just copy it to your PC and use an audio editor like Audacity to reduce the gain.

I believe the Nokia tones cannot be copied off the device, so this will only work if you are using a custom tone.

Sure they can with any of the file explorers. I don't remember the folder path, but it's under Data>Sounds on either the C or D drive. Copy them to your memory card and away you go.

I was able to use a file explorer to extract the message tone to the memory card and then onto my pc. however when I tried to open the tone with audacity it would not open it because it was protected somehow. This was last night so I dont remember the exact error message but audacity would not let me open the file.

What format is the tone you chose? If it's AAC I don't think audacity supports that. You'll need an audio editor that does, or you can convert it to MP3.
