profile change problem with new N80IE

on my old fw with the n80 i can change the profile setting for example, general to silent by holding the # keypad. Bu tnow on the new IE edition the # asks me if i want to change to line 2 on the pfone.
Is there any way where i can get the # to change the profile settings again? or is there another quicker way to change the general to silent with one keypress? thanks
 
My sim is currently in another phone right now so mine says insert sim when I try and I'm too lazy too switch it out right now ....but correct me if I'm wrong...you have to first slide open your phone...press and hold the # key...then slide the phone to the closed position. If you just hit the power button then select silent it should be just as fast!
 
with the older FW it was faster to slide open the phone and hold the # to change to gelereal or silent mode, it's faaster than holding hte power button and scrolling down to change the profile IMO
 
I just sold my N80ie but it had no problem switching between general and silent with the # key.....although I never used it as it's faster to quickly press the power button and push down 2x.
 
This happens when your sim supports two phone numbers. If you have a sim like that the phone will detect this and turn off the profile switching thingy and instead give you the ability to change the phone lines on your sim more quickly instead of going to the menu to do that. Sorry but Nokia doesn't give you the choice to decide how the hash key will work .....

but the thing is that i don't have a 2nd line. It used to work when i had the old N80 FW. Loved the function now i have to put it on my active display. It was so much easier to just open the phone half way and hold the # and it would switch automatically.

What model number is you N80ie? You can find out by tacking the battery out, and it should say code number.

Mine is in the UK on the Orange network and it is code 0535061.
 
My N80ie will switch between general and silent when I press and hold the '#' button. But, I rarely use this since I usually just do the power button switch...faster IMO.

I'm on 4.0632.0.38 firmware (from Asia)
 
I just got my N80ie 2 weeks ago, and read about this feature, but it doesn't work on my phone either.

I agree it would be easier than using the power button, because when you close it it asks you to re-lock the phone.

At the end of the day, the thing I REALLY want is Smart Profiles to be released for this phone!! Man, that was a GREAT program!!
 
Hi Chris - so does yours switch between line 1 and line 2?

As it happens this is a feature that I want. Can you let me know what code the phone is - it is listed next to "code" when you take the battery off the back of the phone.

I don't have 2 lines, so all that happens when I hold down the # key is the # is displayed as the number I'm going to dial, no matter how long I sit there and wait for the magic to happen...

The code on my phone is:
0544938LN19TF
