Picked up the Probot CD recently and if you don't have it, you should be ashamed. ["You don't own 'Probot'?? That is perverse! Don't tell anyone you don't own 'Probot'. It's gonna be ok."] For those of you who don't know who/what Probot is, it's Dave Grohl's side project a long time coming. He grew up on early metal such as Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Celtic Frost, etc, and loves that music. For years, he had been writing and recording underground metal songs (playing all the instruments but no vocals). He sent out one song to each of his old metal idols to write lyrics and sing. The repertoire of singers is amazing and the music is really, really good. It does have a little bit of the Foo Fighters in it, but much harder, of course. Check out "Shake Your Blood," "Dictatosaurus," "Access Babylon," and "My Tortured Soul." I give out very few five star ratings to CRAB, but this is up there with the best of them.
