problems with wireless connection?

i have a compac visita laptop computer.... when i try to connect to the net it say no wireless connetions found and the wireless light stays yellow all the time i have other lap tops connected to the router and the connect just fine but this one will not find or connect any connections and the lillte slide button is in the connection for wireless please help thanks
