Problems with T5 handheld

My Tungsten T5 handheld has two problems:
1. On some of the files in my list of CONTACTS I cannot edit the file. When I try to do this, it appears that I am editing it, but when I close it and open it again the new edits are not there. This only happens on some files. On other files I can edit and the changes and new material is there when I open that CONTACT entry.
2. Sometimes the T5 refuses to turn on, even though I know that the battery is charged. I have to do a soft reset, which then brings up my files.

Have you recently added any installed any new software and then these issues started happening?
