I have a Sony TV which has been hooked up to a cable box underneath for about a year now. Flat screen, not hd. I finalyl got a dvd player to go with it but can`t seem to get it to work. I followed the instructions and it turns on just fine when I press the power button on the actual vcr. but when i try and use the remote that was included with it, nothing happens. I have batteries in it. i`ve tried several batteries in it. I even tried the remote for our vcr downstairs on it and it actually works. is something wrong with the remote? or is there something i have to set up/plug in for it to work? oh, and the vcr`s a panasonic (just like our one downstairs). the guy said it didn`t matter if i got a different brand vcr for our sony tv. is he correct?
