problems with my 2007 suzuki z400?

Ok so i will get down to the point, when i begin to ride 1st and second gear are fine, but when i get into 3rd and up and hit the throdle my z hits high RPMs but the tires dont spin and my bike doesnt accelerate like it should, so essentally i am reving it out but not gaining very much speed. My tires are ok and my bike is in decient shape. Any technical advice would help me alot. Thank you
 
try checking your linkage...like make sure the chain isn't too lose, and make sure that u got the right size sprocket's for it, and also check to see if your linkage from your shifter is working properly. By making sure its connected and if its not a chain check your belt. IDK much about the z400 but i know what im talking about wen it comes to wats going wrong with my bike.
