Problems with My 04 dodge Neon! PLEASE HELP?

My 04 neon sxt has about 47k on it and it will act like it is going to crank but wont turn over. after several trys it did turn over but the check engine light remained on. what could it be. Only had the car about 2 weeks. runs great and is in great condition. I have seen a car fax report on it and it said it had a new battery and starter installed at 35k. what could be causing this. Could it be ignition switch?
 
I have a Dodge Neon too (03) and had this problem this summer. It was not the starter or the battery. I am not a mechanic but as far as I can remember, it was my cam sensor that was bad and needed to be replaced. And my check engine light was on too. Once I got the cam sensor replaced, my engine light turned off and I was able to start the car with no problems. The mechanic said that the cam sensor is vital in starting the car and once it goes bad, the car won't start.
