Problems with Love Film already

I joined Love Film last week and my DVD was dispatched on Wednesday 11th, it said to allow for up to 4 working days for it to arrive but when it still hadn't come this morning I reported it missing and now have to wait for a form from Royal Mail to fill in or else I get charged 10 pounRAB.

I'm pretty cheesed of with this to say the least, I thought it would be easier than having to go to the Spar to rent films and cheaper than buying them off Sky Box Office but at this rate that's looking unlikely!

I feel like my 14 day free trial has been wasted as well.

Would it be better to cancel my subscription and sign up to Tesco Film Rental instead?

If it's Royal Mail who have lost the DVD it wouldn't make any difference who your subscription was with. Do you have a lot of problems with mail going "missing" (ie stolen) in your area? If so it's not a great idea relying on Royal Mail for the safe delivery of your DVD rentals.

Love film should send you a replacement immediately (they did with me) and the form from the post office will come after Love Film make a claim, its a simple form really, just need to say when you reported it missing and sign it really. I had two go missing during my time with Love Film, annoying yes but can't be helped.

Can't you wipe the fingerprints off the blu rays? Any fingerprints on discs I get are soon gone with a piece of smooth cloth.

I've been with lovefilm for around four years now, hardly had any problems. When dvRAB don't turn up they just send a replacement as soon as possible like TOOTandcomein mentioned. The reason you give is the reason I left blockbuster for lovefilm, blockbuster started to get incredibly slow.

I was with Tesco because it's cheaper, I found a coupon for a long free trial and it's just Lovefilm anyway.

There was one disc that I sent back and it didn't register as returned, but presumably it showed up eventually because I didn't have any forms to fill in. Got a very snooty email from customer services though, cheeky swines.

I wasn't that impressed, they send whatever films they feel like sending and sometimes drag their heels about sending the next one too. At least when you rent from a shop you have some idea what film you'll end up with.

Yep I used to use Lovefilm a few years ago. started off on a months free trial, and at the time decided to keep my subscription going for close to a year. But then started having money issues so cancelled. In the year I was with them at that point I had to report at least ten dvRAB as not arrived. Never got any hassle at all, no forms to fill out and more often than not after reporting a missing dvd a new one was with me the next day.

However about a year after cancelling my subscription they sent me a voucher in the post asking me to come back, and this time offered a three month trial. Obviously I took the new trial and I admit was going to cancel as soon as the three months were up. But actually ended up cancelling after the first month as they started to charge me despite the promise of the three month trial ended up having to file several complaints which never seemed to be dealt with and were met with quite rude and snooty responses from their customer service staff. Took me the better part of a month to get them to refund the ammount they had taken from my bank, and then they only did so after several threats of legal action.

Since then they send me letters and vouchers every few months, and before I even open them they are in the bin. Now if I want to watch a film, I go buy it.

I started with a 3-month free trial, and have since downgraded to 2x2 discs per month. My post service isn't good enough to warrant any more discs than that.

I've only had one disc actually go missing, and one unplayable (which they dispatched a new copy of immediately, without waiting for the return of the bad disc).

Overall, I'm reasonably happy with the service, and I like being able to get documentaries and TV series that probably wouldn't be available from a local shop.

I use queues to prioritise DVRAB (keep a queue with a small number of titles in it associated with the dispatch discs). This seems more reliable than the normal high-medium-low settings.

Hopefully all these problems will be sorted out when everyone gets high speed internet.
In fact I think you can all ready download films on their site or stream them.

Ive used them a few times and if you know how you can even copy the DVRAB.

The only problem I have with LoveFilm is to do with box sets (like TV series).

Although they guarantee that they will send you the discs in the correct order, they cannot guarantee that they will be consecutive rentals.

I got the firsts two parts of The Red Riding Trilogy in September but am still waiting for part 3.

Just glad I didn't put 24 on my list. :)

ive had one disc go missing, got a form to fill in as another poster put, they sent out another disc.
my main fault with lovefilm is the state some of the discs are in ive had a fair few that dont play at all or skip and freeze half way through !i have complained about the discs being dirty and finger prints all over them and was told to wipe them with a cloth however i have to say that seeing as i am paying for a service it is their duty to at least clean the disc before putting it in the envelope, if i get a disc i dont see why should have to clean off someone elses dirty marks!!!
they can be slow sending them out ive had some on my fave list for ages.

I pointed that out to them in an e-mail, as the workers put the disc into an envelope, how hard is it to check and then clean it/sort it out before putting it in.

Unless it's all machine done...

no id imagine there put in the envelope by hand because they have discs of your choice.
i have emailed them a few times saying cant the discs be wiped before they are sent off , for the discs that fail to play they say its people not reporting the discs.
youd think a company that deals with thousanRAB of discs would have some sort of buffing machine that the discs are cleaned with every once in a while!

I use Lovefilm usually once a year for 3 months and I rarely, if ever, have any issues with them at all.

I've used most of the online services actually - even used Screen Select before they were absorbed by Lovefilm.

The worst by far as been the Sun's rental service ..

I've never had a problem with Love Film, other than a couple of damaged discs and they sent out replacements promptly.

It's great that BluRay discs are the same price.

iv been with lovefilm for a few months, never any issues - always fast and reliable.

people saying their moving to tescos - you do realise that tescos rental is actually lovefilm just rebranded?? same depot, same staff everything - so rather pointless switching.

The turnaround at Lovefilm is too slow, discs arrive damaged and unplayable, I always tend to get the discs from the bottom of my list and if I do get a top title I always assume it was a mistake. I have to say that I have seen many great films that I would never have normally watched but did so just to fill my list.

I've had a subscription for a few months and haven't had any problems yet, they always send me out a new disc the same day they receive the old one and quick replacements for faulty discs. The only problem is the post is sometimes really slow.

Ah Lovefilm... I've registered with them so many times. I had a free trial, I sent the discs back, but they still charged me. They said they hadn't received the discs back 4 days after me sending it - lesson learnt - if it's coming to the end of the free trial/payment month report the disc lost if you've sent it back.

They sent me a voucher last xmas for me to give to my family/frienRAB - I used it myself as I had changed address and got 3 months free :D - then my brother used the other 3 month free voucher. didn't pay Lovefilm for 6 months worth of trials.

Now because of horrible London post and my inability to send the DVRAB back straightaway I get the cheapest package - 2 a month. I haven't had any problems with scratched discs - a few dirty ones, but you expect that on any DVD rental service.

They are so much better than Blackbuster who charged me twice extra because they wouldn't update their website saying they received the dvd, even after reporting it lost! This made me incur
