Problems with intimacy after watching "Teeth"?

I'm a 25 y/o male and get more than a fair amount of attention from women. I've always found emotional intimacy difficult, however after watching this movie about a vagina with teeth with my (at the time) girlfriend I cannot bring myself to have any sort of a relationship, sexually and emotionally, with the opposite sex.

For those of who you haven't seen it or heard about it, here is the link to IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780622/

I found the movie disturbing, but the reaction of my ex-gf and her friends even more disturbing. Smug looks towards me during the castration scenes, "joking" threats afterwards. This seems to be common theme, looking through comments about the movie. Women find this empowering, and enjoy making their male partners uncomfortable and threatened. While I don't find this threatening, I do find this disturbing - that a woman can apparently love a man yet taking pleasure in the fantasy of castrating him, rendering him "not a man".

Am I alone in this problem? Do other guys feel the same way, or have women had problems getting their guy to perform or simply leaving them if joking threats were made?

All opinions/thoughts welcome.
Captain, the thing is I have no fear of resuming normal activities - of course, its fictional, and its not even the movie itself, it's women's reactions. It's the realisaition women harbour these depraved fantasies even with someone they "love" that totally puts me off any sort of emotional attachment with them. And they do harbour these fantasies, trust me on that...its not ignorance either, its the damage they can inflict that excites them. Very depressing when you realise this.
