I have a 2003 300M Special with 77K miles. The car has been serviced regularly and used mainly for highway driving. This week the car has developed a strange problem: it shifts or kicks at 32 mph as the car decelerates -- no other time, not while accelerating -- just at 32 mph as the car decelerates. I took the car in to the dealer-- no codes. The mechanics think there is a leak in one of the transmission seals -- $1500 for a used tranny (with 60K on it -- warranty for 12,000 miles) or $3500 for Chrysler refurbished one -- 36K warranty.
Could there be another explanation? Something not so costly as a new transmission? The car drives perfectly, shifts perfectly except for the deceleration at 32 mph. Thanks!
