I tried a 1G capsule of high quality fish oil a few months ago and had days of stomach upset. It starts with burning in my upper stomach, then settles in to a generalized upset. I tried freezing them, and the same thing resulted. Recently I tried 500mg of a different high quality brand, and had stomach upset that resulted all day. I tried a few drops of a liquid fish oil a few days later to see if the problem was capsules, this resulted in a lesser version of the same symptoms... day-long stomach upset and I even burped it 12h later.

Has anyone experienced similar symptoms and tried an enteric-coated capsule? If so, did it help? Or, how about krill oil?

I'm not sure if this is an allergy or an intolerance. Long ago, an allergy test showed a strong shellfish allergy. An allergy test from last year revealed that I no longer had any allergy to it.

this might seem obvious, but have you been taking the fish oil with a meal? if not, it can upset your stomach. I take Mega EFA pills, and they have roughly 1G of oil per pill.

Maybe get the liquid oil and try to dilute it?( I know that might be a bit tough with oil and water..)

Yes, I have always taken it with a meal. I forgot to mention that in the original post.

there are other sources of essential fatty aciRAB besides fish oil. I believe i used to take a seed oil of some kind that had the same end results. you could try one of those. I believe it was a flax seed oil, but I might be wrong.

I can't take fish oil either, makes my stomach upset even when taken with food. Actually it's not really "stomach" issues for me as it is "lower intestinal".. not fun. Just this week I bought some flax seed oil with Omega 3 to try instead. I've only taken it for 2 days so I can't say the results just yet!
