Problems with Compensator

Thanks to the OP for this heads up and glad to hear it didn't take him down.

I've seen other threads on this issue and this one now has me concerned. I have 6300 mi on my 2010 FLHX and have been hearing a low end knock when I first start up and the oil is cold. The noise is on the left side toward the front of the primary cover. Up until recently the knock quits when the oil warms up but yesterday on a 200 mi run it started knocking when hot.

I'm wondering if this is the compensator getting ready to get ugly.
 
I heard that the moco started going with the SE compensator on late model year 2010's. Can anyone tell me if that is correct and if so, does anyone know when they started to do so?
 
Talked to service manager who works on my bike about this Wednesday. He says HD has recognized the problem enough to correct it on new bikes, but not enough to recall. If under factory warranty, the MoCo will replace with the SE compensator under terms of the warrNty. If under ESP, will not replace the OEM with SE, but willet you pay the difference to upgrade. Not great - but I am getting replaced as soon as I get home and tKe the scoot in for the 30K.
 
I have a 2010 Street Glide with 1800 miles. Iv'e had the bike to the stealer twice for a sound I'm hearing while the clutch is disenguaged and I blip the throttle to down shift. To be honest the sound resembles a single ping like engine knock. It seams to be from the left side of the bike. I work with a former H-D engineer. He says that it is unlikley that the engine would single ping with no load. He called a couple of people that he used to work with at the MOCO and they suggest that the sound is metal or mechanical at or around the compensator. Does any one else hear a pinging sound when bliping the throttle?
 
I have a 2010 EGC with about 3000 miles on it. My bike was making a loud noice when cranking it. Took it in a couple of weeks ago and they replaced the compensator with a new OEM one. At the time I didn't know about the SE version or I would have paid the difference for it. Now, its hard to start when hot. Like when you pull into a gas station, get gas and restart, its almost like low a battery or too much compression. Its back at the dealer now. They checked the hot and cold compression, and the're the same. The battery is also good. They know it was not doing before the comp. was changed, so the're calling moco next week. Hopefully, they'll change the comp. and I'll pay the difference for the SE. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
