problems with 2005 Toyota 4Runner SR5?

Please help me.

I am a healthcare worker going to work with doctors without borders in Africa for a couple years. I wanted a reliable car to use for the years I’m going to spend there
I purchased a 2005 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and shipped it in a container ($2,000) to my destination in Africa. The SUV arrived a week ago and it’s not working.

When I picked it up at the port, it wouldn’t start. I assumed the battery had run down and had to jump start it. This helped….but the SUV could only go at 25miles per hour.
I drove it home at 25 miles per hour that day. I have not been able to drive it since.

These lights are currently on. Please help me the best you can as I’m not sure what they mean.
1.Check light ( followed by an image of a car on a slippery surface)
2.VSC track
3.VSC off
4.A/T oil temp

Right now, I can only turn the car on but can’t move it. The car turns on weak, and it vibrate heavily, also it makes a lot of noise when changing the gears. The car is automatic.

Please tell me what you think is wrong with my SUV. The local mechanic tried to fix/diagnose it but gave up. My life depends on this vehicle and it is very disappointing to be having these problems. Please help!
 
Well the good thing is that the car is atleast letting you know that there is a problem with it by means of indicator lights. This means that the On board diagnostic computer has detected the problem. One option I can suggest is that you can buy a cheap diagnostic reader from your local autoparts store, or if you can get the truck to run, have them check the computer at the store directly. It's a free service offered and it will helpyou to fix the problem. The loud noises can be a number of things. What other info can you provide? Does it make a knocking noise, does it have oil, and if so is it losing oil?
 
The A/T oil temp could mean the transmission is blown. Was (or still is) the center differential is locked? That is a button to the left from the steering wheel on the dashboard. If that was, then you would see a green symbol that looks like 4 tires connected with an X. That can be used ONLY when it's snowy. The other thing I can think of, the knob the right from the steering wheel on the dash that indicates the car is in 4LO 4HI or 2HI. (4WD Hi, 4WD LO, or 2WD) If that was in the 4LO that could have made the tranny go. (it also unlocks the center differential too) That can be only used when you are completely stuck in snow or mud since it will give a huge amount of torque to the wheels, the RPM goes very high. Most almost never need the use of 4LO and you not suppose to drive the vehicle with 4LO. When the vehicle is in 4LO, (and for some reason you driving it) it's very slow, running on high RPM, the truck shakes, and front feels like it's going to fall apart. No other idea, than just check these two things. It's probably too late, but would be good if you find out what was the position off these buttons.
