Problems with 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee starting/gauges?

I pulled my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee out of the garage to re-charge the air conditioning. I let it idle and attached an R34 cylinder. As it started to draw R34, it stalled. I immediately tried to re-start the vehicle, thinking it was nothing. When I turned the key on, the fuel, amp, oil gauges did not move but vehicle tried to turn over and over. It did not start. I checked fuses. I'm stumped. Can you help me?
