Problems projecting a DVD using windows media player; "out of range?"?

I'm using a projector hooked up to my laptop, and part of the presentation involves playing a DVD. I use Windows media player. But, at some points, the projector screws up and goes blank, saying it's "out of range." Any ideas why this might be happening.

Also, I don't know if this is important, but the presentation consists of a dvd and powerpoint which I switch between in the middle.

do you have the DVD codec?
if not get k-lite codec pack

as for the out or range thing, it probably has something to do with the projector settings

media player does not play DVD amy honey
you have to download MpcStar or PowerDVD to play dvd files, dont u know that
anyways i recommend MpcStar.
