When i'm playing games like COD 4 - MW online in full screen sometimes in the middle of a battle it minimizes the game going out to my desktop and then I alt+tab back into the game, and usually is lying dead after this.
I have also noticed it in WoW in window mode, but here it doesn't minimize the game, but it makes an dong sound every time press a button until alt+tab back into the game.
I have downloaded the latest graphics driver from nvidia.com for my 7900 gtx card.
And NO, I do not hit the windows button ;D
